Music and Dance Competition Details

Competition Submission Deadlines

  • Kathak & Tabla – 14th January 2024
  • Harmonium & Vocal – 20th January 2024

All are requested to go through the rules and regulations of the competition before submitting the forms.

Common Rules

  • These competitions are open to amateurs only.
  • The decision of the appointed judges will be final and legally binding on all participants.
  • No expenses such as lodging & boarding, travel fare, conveyance, or any other expenses will be paid or reimbursed to participants and their accompanists.
  • All participants must produce their age proof on the day of their performance.
  • Participants must be present at least half an hour before the time stated for their performance.
  • Each participant must mention his/her Mobile number and email address in the application form. (Mobile Number and email id are mandatory)
  • The Winner (First Prize Winner only), who has won this competition in the same age group in any preceding years, is not eligible to participate again.
  • Right of admission reserved.
  • Results of each segment of competition will be announced soon after the competition and the prize amount will be credited in the bank account mentioned in the form of the respective winner. At any cost, prize amount will not be paid in cash or by cheque.
  • While announcement of result, attendance of each participant is compulsory. Prizes will be given to winners subject to their attendance at the time of result announcement.
  • Participants will be disqualified if found speaking to the judges or asking their friends or relatives to do the same.
  • Certificate of participation will be given to each participant.
  • All participants must submit the form and pay the entrance fee of Rs. 250/- (Rupees Two Hundred Fifty Only) through online mode only and produce the e-acknowledgement receipt on the competition day. Without the receipt, no participant will be allowed to perform.
  • Please don’t try to fill the form again for any reason. As your form won’t be saved unless you make the online payment. If you wish to alter or change any field in the earlier submitted form, please email us the details you want to change to our email id madhukauns@gmail.com
  • For any reason in case of cancellation of participation, the entrance fees would not be returned back.
  • The number and amount of prizes will depend upon the quantitative number of participants and their qualitative performances.
  • All the legal matters will be under Pune Jurisdiction only.

Rules – Kathak Competition

  • Participants’ age in Junior Group must be of 10 years complete to 18 years as on 31.12.2023. Date of birth must be between 01.01.2006 to 31.12.2013.
  • Participants’ age in Senior Group must be of 18 years complete to 30 years as on 31.12.2023. Date of birth must be between 01.01.1993 to 31.12.2005.
  • Participants will have to make their own arrangements about orchestra, make-up, accompanists etc. at their own cost. Recorded music, only in MP3 format on PENDRIVE is permitted.
  • Dance performance on film music or fusion is not allowed.
  • Participants must include Nritta and Nrittya in their performance, as separate marks are allocated for the same.
  • Time limit for performance in the competition is of 10 minutes maximum for each participant.
  • Participants must submit their forms on or before 14th January 2024. No application form will be accepted after the said date.
  • Only first 25 entries will be accepted in both Junior and Senior Group. The intimation and confirmation for their participation would be communicated only after the last date of form acceptance through email only.

Rules – Tabla Solo Competition

  • Age of participant in Tabla solo competitions must be of 14 years complete to 35 years as on 31.12.2023. Date of Birth must be between 01.01.1988 to 31.12.2009.
  • Each participant must carry his/her instrument along with Electronic Tanpura.
  • Time limit for the performance in competition is of 12 minutes maximum for each participant.
  • The organizers have made the arrangement of the accompanists for Harmonium Lehra. If participants are not comfortable with this, they must make their own arrangement at their own cost.
  • For accompaniment, only Harmonium and Tanpura are the permissible instruments.
  • For Tabla solo competition, participants may present any Taal of their choice.
  • Only first 40 entries will be accepted. The intimation and confirmation for their participation will be communicated after the last date of form acceptance through email only.
  • Participants must submit their forms on or before 14th January 2024. No application form will be accepted after the said date.

Rules – Harmonium Solo Competition

  • Age of participant in Harmonium solo competitions must be of 14 years complete to 35 years as on 31.12.2023. Date of Birth must be between 01.01.1988 to 31.12.2009.
  • Each participant must carry his/her instrument along with Electronic Tanpura.
  • Time limit for the performance in competition is of 15 minutes maximum for each participant. Participants must perform in Vilambit / Madhya Laya and Drut Laya. Complete freedom for selection of Bandish or Gaat.
  • The organizers have made the arrangement of the accompanists on Tabla. If participants are not comfortable with this, they must make their own arrangement at their own cost.
  • For Harmonium solo competition, participants must present any raga as chosen by the judges among three ragas given by them.
  • Only first 30 entries will be accepted. The intimation and confirmation for their participation will be communicated after the last date of form acceptance through email only.
  • Participants must submit their forms on or before 20th January 2024. No application form will be accepted after the said date.

Rules – Vocal Competition

  • For Junior Group, participants’ age must be of 12 years complete to 18 years as on 31.12.2023. Date of Birth must be between 01.01.2006 to 31.12.2011.
  • For Senior Group, participants’ age must be of 18 years complete to 35 years as on 31.12.2023. Date of Birth must be between 01.01.1988 to 31.12.2005.
  • No other instruments other than Tanpura, Harmonium, and Tabla will be allowed.
  • The organizers have made the arrangement of the accompanists for Harmonium and Tabla. If participants are not comfortable with this, they must make their own arrangement at their own cost.
  • The organizers have made the arrangement of Tanpura, Harmonium, and Tabla of Kali 1,2,4,5 sur only. No other sur instruments will be arranged by them.
  • Each participant must carry his/her electronic Tanpura.
  • Each participant should mention his/her choice of date for performance. No alterations or changes can be made once the form is submitted.
  • Time limit of performance for Junior Group is of 10 minutes maximum for each participant.
  • Time limit of performance for Senior Group is of 15 minutes maximum for each participant.
  • Junior Group participants must present any raga as chosen by the judges among two ragas given by them.
  • Senior Group participants must present any raga as chosen by the judges among three ragas given by them.
  • In Junior Group, participants can present the khayal either in Vilambit or Madhya or Drut Laya.
  • Only first 20 entries for Junior Group and 40 entries for Senior Group will be accepted. The intimation and confirmation for their participation will be communicated only after the last date of form acceptance through email only.
  • Participants must submit their forms on or before 20th January 2024. No application form will be accepted after the said date.
  • Date of birth criteria for various competitions:

    • Kathak Senior – 01.01.1993 to 31.12.2005
    • Harmonium – 01.01.1988 to 31.12.2009
    • Tabla – 01.01.1988 to 31.12.2009
    • Vocal Junior – 01.01.2006 to 31.12.2011
    • Vocal Senior – 01.01.1988 to 31.12.2005
  • Harmonium timings – 15 minutes instead of 12 minutes.
